The PPAQ is committed to providing a platform for the promotion and growth of Professional Photography industry in Queensland.

Membership Levels

The PPAQ has two different levels of membership for photographers of all skill levels – CPP and DPP.

Certified Professional Photographer (CPP)

Our CPPs are able to demonstrate a broad photographic skill set and are proficient in more than one genre of photography.

To apply for membership as a CPP, you will need:

  • to have been in continuous practice of professional photography for a minimum of two years.
  • be able to provide evidence of an ABN and Public Liability Insurance with a minimum cover of $10m.
  • maintain a Professional Online Presence.
  • Agree to uphold the PPAQ Code of Conduct.
  • Supply a portfolio* of 20 images to be reviewed by a judging panel.

Developing Professional Photographer (DPP)

Our DPP Program is currently limited to an intake of 5 new members per year.

Aim
This Program is designed to introduce photographers to professional photography and to bridge the gap before new photographers can apply for Certification with the PPAQ. The Program is designed to provide training, professional development and business skills. It also offers opportunities to work with experienced professionals in the industry. New photographers will learn the photographic and business skills required to successfully run a photographic business and become a full member and CPP with the PPAQ. Applicants are expected to reach CPP standard within a one year period.

 

To apply for membership as a DPP, you will need:

  • be able to provide evidence of an ABN and Public Liability Insurance with a minimum cover of $10m.
  • maintain a Professional Online Presence.
  • Agree to uphold the PPAQ Code of Conduct.

 

*Portfolio Submissions

  1. Cannot be of the same subject.
  2. Must include at least more than two photography genres.
  3. Must show a range that includes:
  • Monochrome
  • Colour
  • Natural Light
  • Artificial Light
  • Composition

Photographs are judged on Practical Composition, Technical Composition and Impact.
